Most people don't know that you basically betrayed and killed Dagoth Ur in a past life as Lord Nerevar. It's sad... Dagoth Ur is not as bad as he's made out to be! Vivec is technically worse, as is the case with Almalexia and Sotha Sil.
Well, Nerevar, Almalexia and Vivec did. You MIGHT be Nerevar reborn, but you might be a self-made hero or even just fitting some parts and having the prophecy shoehorned around you. This is what I love in Morrowind, such roleplaying chances. :3
recently I've been playing deus ex human revolution and or diablo 3 but that face reminded me of alot of funs times in good ole MW. like my favorite muck crab 10,000 dollar vendor just outside of the major city. or the random finding of the iceris flight spell from a person falling from the sky. you remeber those points?
No, a true Madgod would make his own kingdom and have everyone in it worship him with yarn and lettuce. He became overwhelmed with power, but still wanted what was best for his people, unlike Sheogorath, who simply wanted cheese.
Is it just me or does Morrowind have one of the deepest and least black vs. white stories in videogames? When I was playing it for the first time, I expected it to be a typical "save the world from Evil" story, with Voryn Dagoth as the cliche insane mage/demon/whatever... but then I started reading all the in-game books and the more I knew about the Dunmer history, the more I doubted whether the Nerevarine is the good guy here. And when I killed Dagoth Ur, I felt dirty. He was mad, but he was a... patriot, nevertheless.
Agreed! It's a pity Oblivion did not reach its greatness, but oh well. I guess the attempts to reach mass audience are to blame for the lack of depth in RPGs nowadays. Dragon Age: Origins comes to mind, it was called a "return to the roots", but I found it rather shallow and disappointing. Personally, I'd love to see another Daggerfall. Maybe just a bit less random, and a little smaller.
Quite agree! Daggerfall was the supreme king of sandbox RPG...! Despite the bugs and flaws, it had a world that really just took over your life! I recall walking about in game, it was woods in at winter, and I realised I would be playing this game for YEARS!
Now THIS is Dagoth Ur! It might just be me, but I don't like fan art that pretties him up. He looks the way he should in this: wretched, twisted, but at the same time powerful and, in a way, majestic. That overconfidence that dripped off his every word is captured perfectly here. Great work!
